It’s been a weird week.
The council decided that during this time of biblical rainfall they would cut down every other tree in the street.
Genius!
I have also reached breaking point with the Catholic Church.
As Father P’s sermons get more and more ‘party line’, I’ve become more and more ‘what’s the fecking point?’
His sermon about homosexuals was an absolute blinder.
Going on about being ‘called to chastity’, ‘hate the sin, not the sinner’ and that ‘really we should feel sorry for them’.
I wish I could put into words how angry I feel.
Then on Thursday, this was published and I went a little bit beyond anger.
We ALL knew the Church was covering for its nonces and perverts, we’ve always known.
In the same way we ALL knew some Nuns were vicious, brutal bitches.
Call to chastity! What a wanker.
Chastity not freely chosen smacks of sexual repression to me and as the Dublin Report shows, that works SO well doesn’t it?
Especially as these are people who CHOSE the celibate life.
Shouldn’t the last place I have to defend myself be in Church?
But, as ever, I have to defend the quality of my love (Oh, it’s a phase.. It's a crush.. You just haven’t found the right man..), the validity of my relationships (Yeah, but it’s not like you are a proper couple.. It‘s not a real marriage..) and probably worst of all, the integrity of my character. (No. I don’t fancy ALL women.. No. I don’t touch children..)
When the hypocrisy becomes glaringly obvious and the opposition voices become harsher and more judgemental, when I can actually see the day he will refuse me communion, it’s time to go.
I feel a bit adrift.
Ho hum.

Hmmm...well that report looks as though it's going to be very thorough, but right now I can't face all 170 pages.
That whole 'hate the sin...' line was exactly the same crap I got from that Mormon who tried to doorstep me in the summer.
You can see why all the churches fear homosexuality, since the institution of the church, rather than the Christian Faith, is all about maintaining patriarchal dominance - also of course why they hate women they can't suppress and are no longer allowed to burn at the stake.
Lesbian partnerships are just totally outside of their rule by willy, and male gay partnerships are more fundamentally equal than opposite sex ones.
But they're fighting a losing battle. (The Church). Progress may be slower than geological change, but it's rolling forward nonetheless. It's just a matter of time before our descendants are looking back with anger at us troglodytes who discriminated on grounds of gender or sexuality.
It's simply entropy.

If they really, really do resist the Apostolic Visitation it could be the start of something.

Buy a Spurs season ticket and start following them at home and away. Join forces with others of similar passion (for the game that is) and have a laugh. At least you'll be with others of same mind.
If the Catholic Church was a publicly accountable institution it would prolly have been disbanded on the back of these reports. That clergy aren't facing charges, trials and years in prison is quite frankly unacceptable. They've lost all moral authority. Its as simple as that - so why stay within an institution that is so profoundly wracked with dishonour...and evil. Sorry if that seems OTT.

Firstly, I'm trying hard not to picture Richard's willy ruling....
Secondly, I intend blogging about this later, but a small churchy victory has been won in my corner of the globe. Small, but had it not been won it would have been a massive setback.
I really hate the 'really we should feel sorry for them’ attitude, it's so passive aggressive. Cowards!
