Burn In Hell

I'm confused. Not an unusual state of affairs for me!
Why, all of a sudden is it wrong that Saddam has been hanged?
'Deplorable', Gordon Brown called it. No world leader seemed to be lining up at the time in his defense. Then the execution HAD to be shown to stop the conspiracy theories.
Now it's an abomination. These people want to make up their fucking minds.
They weren't that squeamish while they were bombing Baghdad, knowing full well that Saddam had done a runner and the army was more or less non existent.

I don't remember anyone being outraged when the mutilated bodies of his sons, Uday and Qusay were plastered over the front pages of papers around the world.
Everybody has seen the Zapruda film where you can see President Kennedy's head come apart. Who complained about that?
I watched the YouTube footage, a few times, he is there on the trapdoor - then he isn't. You don't see him dangling or jerking on the end of the rope. In all honesty, it wouldn't have bothered me if I did.
So, what I can work out is 'they' didn't like people shouting "Go to Hell" at him.
Fuck off.

In America when a murderer is executed, people are invited to witness it. Members of the victim's family can be there.
Do you think they are sat there thinking to themselves,
"Aaah, poor bugger, I hope he goes straight to heaven".
Or are they cheering and thinking,
'Go to Hell, you fucking scum!'

Let's not forget what this bastard did before we become part of the rewritten history of Saddam The Martyr.

To all you 'Peace Nazis', You know who you are..... Grow up!

The prosecutor of Sobodan Milosevic said of Milosevic's death: "His death . . . for all the victims affected by the crimes for which he was charged, and for the efforts invested in our fight against impunity. We were so near the end - I was stupefied. we lost the chance to create the global picture of what really happened in Yugoslavia."
To extrapolate then, Saddam's death leaves lots of questions unanswered, the complicity of other countries (America, perhaps) in his earlier rule die with him. Convenient for all concerned. Saddam was a monster, that goes without saying. Those who helped to build the monster must be breathing sighs of relief, especially as they commit to sending more troops to die in Iraq.

Of course they bloody don't! (Unanswered questions die with him) that implies that he was going to give up his secrets if only we let him live or that he even knew the answers to questions that aren't even there. It's just more twaddle, it's just an excuse for the lazy-minded peace nazis not to have to think about the real issues. It doesn't even make fecking sense.

The day Sleepy censors her blog btw will be the day we know she's been abducted by aliens and replaced by some stiff.

I can cope with the unanswered questions because one always has them about any issue - there is never a full, total account of any moment in our lives or in history. And I don't think that it gets Saddam's early supporters off the hook either unless the electorate is so feeble minded that it allows such accountabilities to go unchallenged - which it has. There were plenty of governments who were perfectly happy to support Saddam as a bulwark against Iran knowing full well that atrocities were being committed in Iraq. When I was at Uni in the late 70s/early 80s, this was well known and Baathist sympathiser studens tried to silence those who spoke out. A lot of those who did could not return to their country and there were a LOT of them trying to get residency here too. We created this man and we destroyed him. I just wish to god that we could play a positive force in middle east politics for once.

Karen.. Of course you can comment. Why would it be a problem?

Schnee.. Spot on! Like he was going to say, "Oh, and by the way you've missed some of the mass graves"..

Sassy.. I knew an Iraqi guy whose whole family had been wiped out by Saddam's regime. He was trying to stay here but was sent back. I had 2 letters, then never heard from him again. I can only assume he was also killed.
His name was Basil Al Mashat and I have promised myself that I will never forget his name.
